Easter Eggs and Spider-Man

Apparently, the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Euharlee, Ga is a really big deal.

The Stone Church was involved in it this year (our first real community event! squee!) and it was a great time. We brought 2 big inflatables, a bouncy house and a giant slide, and set up a "Make your own Pet Stone" booth (get it? pet rocks, but instead it's pet stones... cause the stone church... Yeah, we get it! Move on..) all of which were a big hit. We had prime real estate, as well: right in front of the entrance/exit so we got to meet everyone... twice!

I think the whole town showed up for the Easter Egg hunt... which was less of an actual "hunt" (because the eggs were not actually hidden, but lying in a field) and more of an Easter Egg "free-for-all" with tons of kids scrambling, banging, and thieving in order to get the most eggs. This is probably a good time to mention that while most of these eggs held candy, some of these eggs contained little strips of paper that you could turn in for prizes like bicycles, slip 'n slides, and gift cards.

So, with every parent out there acting as body guards for their kids, and the kids (hopped up on sugar and the excitement of the chaos) frantically scooping up eggs in all directions, thousands of eggs were cleared in a total time of 3 minutes (...yes, I timed it).

And it was a great time!

We were in the 0-3 age groups field, so there was a bit less chaos
On another, more proud and fatherly note, I was so proud of my daughter, Jovi, that day as well. She jumped in the bouncy house (which is a place of terror, if you ask me...) and went down the ginormous inflatable slide (then fell on her face while she was climbing off, cried a bit, then went back down the ginormous inflatable slide just to show it who's boss).

She also got her face painted...

It took a long time to get through the line for face painting and we passed the time talking to some great people and discussing with Jovi what she would get painted on her face. I threw out options like: a butterfly, a bunny face, and a sunshine. All of which were met with a strange, confused face from my 3 year old, and the response,
"I want them to paint a Spider-Man on me."
"I don't know if they can paint a Spider-Man, honey. Would you like to have a back-up idea in case they can't do it?" I asked, reasonably and logically.
"Well, I'll ask them if they can," She responded even more reasonably and logically.
She was right... they could and did. And she was the happiest person ever because of it.
We also had a great Sunday this past week and are looking forward to our first Easter service where we will be preaching on the importance of easter eggs and chocolate and how the Easter Bunny made the way for...

No wait, that isn't right....

I guess you'll just have to listen to the podcast (or come see us on Sunday) to figure it out...
